Strange things from Thailand,
just a few of the odd things I have collected over the years, adding more
when I find what I have done with them!
With a slow
connection, this page will take ages to download.
Any examples?
please send them to me by email.

Darkie toothpaste has gone
from the shelves in a fit of political correctness, now re-named Darlie and
with a slightly different picture on the label. For some reason this process
did not extend as far as the Black Man range of kitchen products, which
remain available in all supermarkets.
My "tinted" Caribbean friend Clinton has a Black
Man chopping block displayed in his kitchen in the UK!

|

Still available in Foodland and The Emporium,
the good old "Black Man" brand of household products! |
 |
In my experience the
girls in Phuket are slightly more attractive!

Thanks to "Wee" Jon Wood for this one!

Probably the only truthful sign in Soi Cowboy, Bangkok

The absolute best example of Thai/English ever!!

Any further comment would be
superfluous!! |

A hand-out from a bar in Soi Diamond in
Pattaya

Beer at 44 Baht, those were the days!
This place was a complete
dump, the only show I ever saw in there were 2 girls wrestling in a
child's inflatable paddling pool whilst covered in palm cooking oil, as
mentioned elsewhere, as sexy as watching Margaret Rutherford on the
toilet.
|
|
The name says it all!

Not only have I never been there,
I don't know anyone who has either
(allegedly!).

What makes this extract from an Aikido school advertisement funny is that it
is from the toilet wall in the Suzi Wong bar, Soi Cowboy - the toilet is quite a good place to have fluid, circular
and continuous movements!

Genuine Advert from Phuket Gazette magazine June 2003
BARGIRL FOR SALE.
No key money, just take over payments. Great exterior condition.
Attitude may need slight adjustment. Will cook if hungry. Will clean for
jewellery. Expert in hand phone operation, sofa management and budget
mishandling. Genuine reason for sale - owner bankrupt! Call now, this
offer won't last.
(I have
removed the phone number!) |

These road safety placards were placed along
the roadside on major routes, but caused more accidents as passing drivers
tried to read the captions. This is one of a series, but as they are all
removed now, I am unlikely to find examples of some of the other ones. This
caption is about not driving like a snake!

It seems as if my views on golfers are not

From a vehicle badge at the
2004 Bangkok Motor Expo at Impact, Muang Tong Thani.
A "Tinglish" masterpiece!!

"The concept of our design is black color is the best matching with our
product.
Because fine black color marks the most beaetitul shape that have."
This vehicle badge is on the
front of most models from a fairly large company that sells customised
Toyotas as well as importing rare vehicles. Fills you with confidence! This
picture from 2004, Bangkok Motor Show 2005 showed they were still using the
same wording. I sought out a company representative who spoke English, and
told him the wording is not in proper English, with a scornful look, he told
me it wasn't English, it was German!
Hooray! after at least 3 years of putting this drivel
on their expensive cars, a breakthrough, a new badge appears on the models
on show at Motor Expo 2006:-

Another AWARB for MAZDA!
