LONDONER BREW PUB
UBC 2 Building corner of Sukhumvit Soi 33
This is a basement bar located
on the corner
of Sukhumvit Soi 33 down the steps in the UBC II building, it says established 1997 above the door, but it wasn’t opened until well into 1998, and no brewing took place until much later.
To back this up, the Second Anniversary Party was held on 9.03.2000.
2 beers brewed "in house"
micro brewery style, a Bitter and a Pilsner.
Happy hours daily 16:00 -
19:00 2 for one on pub brewed beers, and Wacky Wednesday party when all
drinks are served on a two for one basis all night!
Good service, good food, good
location, micro brewery, website.

Coliseum
Sukhumvit Road between Soi 40 & 38
Ekamai
station
Hard to miss this place from Ekamai skytrain
station, but if you do, it's on the Phrom Pong side back towards the Emporium
on the same side of the road.
Catering mainly, if not exclusively, to Thai
clientele, this is one of those places Thailand is best remembered for - it
has to be seen as a description is insufficient!
Not as welcoming as Brew Pavilion, but I have
received a few favourable emails about this place, and it does make a change!

Only in Thailand!

Tawandang German Brewery
426/61 Rama 3 Road, opposite Caltex Oil.
This was newly opened
September '99 and although I had an invitation, I opted for a night
out in Soi Cowboy instead! Seats 1,200! I am informed the name means RED SUN in English, and not
as I thought, red barrel, which is just as well if you remember the
beer of the same name!
Correctly, this place should really be pronounced "TAWANDENG".
I have checked it out, decent beer, but the place is so popular there are
queues right out the door, not knowing this - and as we were "farangs"
- they let us walk in past the waiting crowds and order beers. Seats are a bit
scarce at the weekend
unless you book, may be a bit quieter now.
This place,
although still in the city, is a long way outside the normal entertainment
area, possibly a bit too far away for a casual visit, but worth the trip.

Tawandang
Branch 2 now open (September 2005) alongside Ram Intra Tollway near Ram
Intra Soi 34
Look for a huge white building
resembling Hua Lamphong railway station, this can be seen from the tollway.
"Tawandeng, Ram Intra" should be sufficient
for all but the thickest Isaan taxi driver!
